Update from the Membership Development Committee

18 Dec 2024 9:28 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

The Membership Development Committee (MDC) met on November 25, 2024.

We reviewed the Mentorship Program which was successfully restarted in the summer. Over 40 applications for the program were received, with a high number of mentor applicants being early career professionals.

We were able to make over 20 mentor/mentee matches and four Peer-to-Peer matches. Peer-to-Peer match is a new feature of the Mentorship Program, connecting members who are in the same time of their career, to provide support and share ideas and information.

The MDC also discussed MLIS and Library Technician student member outreach. This was a topic we have been exploring for a while, looking at how student outreach has changed over time and how to get contacts at library schools and speak to library students to share information about CALL and student membership.

We considered how MDC can be involved in new member communications and provide information to new members about how to join committees and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and provide some initial contact with CALL to welcome new members. We also brainstormed some exciting ideas for member recognition and we hope to share some more information about that with members in the new year!
